The purpose of the History Blog section of this website is to systematically work through and comment on, in chronological order, the entire history of humankind in order to apply the lessons of the past to our present day circumstances. We will employ the standard division of history into the three categories of ancient (from the dawn of history through the fall of the Roman Empire), medieval (from the rise of Christendom to the Renaissance), and modern (from the Renaissance and Protestant “Reformations” to the present day).

We will begin with ancient history and discuss in turn the great civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
